Triplicity of Nature - The Guna Squad

Krishna continued:

“I shall again, dear Arjuna, speak about highest wisdom that surpasses all understanding of common intellect; with which sages at the end have attained the supreme siddhi perfection. Embracing this wisdom, established in my Being, even at the beginning of a new cosmic day you’ll not be forced to be reborn, nor be troubled at the time of cosmic dissolution.

“In Prakriti I deposit my seed of cosmic intelligence, the Mahat. Thence starts the work of creation. Of all forms, whatever may be, Prakriti is their original mother, and I - Bramha, I am their original daddy.

“There even as a fetus the triplicity of the modes of Prakriti, the gunas known as: saliva, rajas & tamas, peace, passion & crumminess, bind the body of the imperishable soul; turning it into a doll of distorted ego.

“The first fetter is best, the peacefulness, sattva, Yet, - however brilliant sattva is though producing light & health & airiness, still it is a golden fetter that binds the mind and intellect to attachment to happiness & knowledge.

“The second fetter rajas, though silver binds you with works of a selfish end. The very nature of rajas is enticing to work, giving birth to desire & attachment, binding the soul to work and expectations of fulfillment.

“Tamas is the iron fetter arising from ignorance, its nature is being full of wrongness: wrong ideas, actions, etc. It keeps one under the drug of carelessness, indolence & procrastination. Then does over sleeping, closing doors to partially evolving actions of rajas and most uplifting actions of sattva. Like animal to them just body is everything.

“Sattva involves you with joy, rajas with work, tamas, eclipsing the intelligence, indulges in dullness and putting-off attitudes.

“Overtaking indolence & work discretion & peace arise at times. Overtaking work & discretion procrastination arises other times. Overtaking foggy mentality of hyperactive business, efficiency & excellency arise too. When and when body feels energetic, senses feel alive, alert, mind feels receptive to knowledge, and then know for sure, the mode of knowledge is taking over. Whenever restlessness arises desire, passion, fruit-impressions pop-up, selfishness, turbulence of mind, lust, hankering for music, TV, tastes, talks, movies, then that is the rajas coming up. When and when you fail to develop intelligence by performance of duty there then arises tamas, like werewolf right from inside you-look at your body, -what it becoming? Stagnation and bewilderment and feeling exhausted, inactive, slothful, misunderstanding, being baked in sizzling process of oven of worry & depression, no opening for good changes, heart & mind become foggy and stone like.

“If you die in the predominance of sattva your subtle body goes to Svah, celestial heaven-like kingdom. If you die during working selfishly, mode of rajas, desiring or lusty, then you are reborn again having destiny of being more heavy worker, with much suffering. If you die in the werewolf-coming out state while dully & foggy, head all sleepy, in stupor, fear and agitation, of the atma unaware totally, falling unconscious, then you are born in animalistic families and bestial people, or remain in sufferingful species or dark regions of astral spheres.

“Fruit of sattvic actions is followed by harmony and organized rhythm of life, search for wisdom and indifference to mediocrity. Impact of rise of rajas is marked by wrong ambition and hectic works. Symptoms of rise of tamas is unbecoming behavior, irritation, aimless action, contempt for others’ good advice, etcetera.

“If you absorb sattva mode your understanding & guesses will always be correct. Discretion and intuition will be easily flowing; your mind will be staying comfortably in 3rd eye center or 1000 petalled lotus on the top of the head. You will always care for other’s feelings more than your own emotions.

“If you live by rajas mode you will be self-centered and a hectic worker. Your mind will stay outside dorsal plexus, therefore you’ll have very stone-like likes and dislikings. You will care only for your own feelings. You’ll not be able to care for others or make harmony and adjustment. You will not feel bad about hurting other’s feelings. You will be more possessive and selfish, more rapidly striving for pleasures of body.

“If you live by tamas mode you will be manic-depressive and enjoy the rush and thrive on tension& acute case of mood-swing. Your biological clock would be upset with any ordinary reason. Because of sadistic or masochistic tendencies the mind will stay in coccygeal plexus, at times a little higher

“Sattvic people after death rise to angelic planes of existence. Rajasic ones are born as humans time and again and tamasic ones fall to lower species like animals and insects.

“Whenever it happens in your life that you begin to see it is only the gunas which arc acting on the gunas and all actions of the world are interactions of gunas, they are neither your’s nor God’s, and you are the seer of this motion picture on VCR big screen of your 60 inch TV, in your living room sitting on loveseat, you like a child are laying on the lap of your loving father, the God, watching the lifesize movie a mere dance of shadows and lights, this is all this world is; then you go free from birth, old age & death and become immortal.”

Arjuna asks:

“My Lord, What are the symptoms of the mode-transcended person? How does he behave? What are the methods through which he rises beyond nature’s triplicity?”

Krishna says:

“When light comes & goes, activities come and go, and ignorance comes and goes, and you neither abhor nor deplore, but remain unperturbed, uninvolved, unconcerned, you stay watching gunas acting with the gunas, and never move a single inch from your orientation upon the pulpit; staying firm on the sacred alter of discretion; unaffected, unexcited, unagitated & not nervous of comings and goings of sorrows & joys, praises & blames; seeing clay & stone & gold all with the same eye, all alike, pleasant & unpleasant all alike firmly even-minded; maintaining oceanic calm in respect and insult, in friend & enemy and in the start of all master plannings, that one has no tinge of personal doership; Arjuna, Oh Arjuna, it is this gentleman who has transcended the triplicity of gunas.

“Answering your last question regarding the method. I would say - - -by unswerving devotion. Fill with this your heart so much that no space is left for anything else, in all the three states: waking, dreaming & deep deep sleep, none else should remain except love, love & love alone, no selfishness, no self thought left at all; O dear Arjuna, I am the pratistha, the basis of Absolute Bramha and the nectarine life in dharma as well as the unalloyed, juicy bliss of absolute lovingness. Of course too subtle, hut got to see it or trust me dear friend.

“Seeing is the path of jnana yoga, trusting is the path of bhakti yoga. Thru love or understanding you reach the same point: Me. And getting Me is finding your self dear. Attaining Me is attaining your own true identity. And not in tracing your roots, your lost parents, brothers or sisters, or some ancient ancestry in far-distant parts of the world. Nope. -I am none else but Bramha; the primordial Reality; upon which the creation, maintenance and dissolutions of nations, civilizations & universes are appearing to you… To you due to your passionate clinging; clinging on those which have no existence, like a dog closed in a cell of mirrors barking at its own reflection; like a thirsty deer, leaping and galloping in the forest trying to drink a mirage. That’s how people of the world are. Therefore dear, read my lips-hearken to my words- listen to my heart’s song- that’s both– the path and the goal too.”

Ksetra - Ksetrajna Vibhaga Yoga

Cosmic’s Fusion and Division

In Life, Soul & God

Arjuna amazed said:

“Thank you Oh Lord, O my wonderful gurudeva I bow down to you. Please explain to me now how the nature prakriti her consort God purusha and body the creative field, ksetra, and its evolvcr-knower soul ksetrajna, should be properly understood?”

Krishna answered:

“This body is ksetra, the field to reap the harvest of past karmas. This soul, my own pure reflection, the possessor of this field of ksetrajna. Knowing it in its entirety is pure wisdom. Sages have expounded it in so many ways. In hymns of vedas and Bramhasutras too it is explained. Same I am telling you now.

“Ksetra consists of subtlety of five elements, ego, intellect, & three gunas the modes of nature, five senses of perception, five organs of action and five classes of their objects, and mind. These 24 indriyas plus desire, hate, pleasure, pain, aggregation of this130 Ib. atom body, aliveness & upholding the actions of mind, prana, & senses towards meditation and selfless actions persistently: this is the field of ksetra.

“This ksetra has to be washed and purified and sterilized to shine brilliantly and thus match with ksetrajna and unite with Purusha. For this the following must be done… If you wish to be workaholic in this context it is okay, but only in this context and only until so much is cleaned that Purusha shines out all over. So here we go, Again, I can lay-out the model the replica, the ideal, work to get the shine, here’s the field:

“Amiability, emptied of hypocrisy, devoid of harmfulness, master of forgiveness & uprightness, servicer of wise men, observer of purity of body and mind, their steadiness and their staying disciplined; detachment from sense objects and consideration into problems of birth, death, old age & illness. No attachment to worldly, even celestial joys; no ego, no attachment to home & family, remaining equal in fascinating & disgusting, enjoying sitting in meditation, unswerving devotion, solitary retreats from worldly-minded people; Perseverance in wisdom of higher realization, aspiration for higher learning and as its essence visualizing me everywhere. This is the wisdom way! Contrary is ignorance that dirtifies everything.

“The consort of Prakriti is Bramha. It is neither truth nor non-truth. His hands and feet are everywhere. His eyes, his face, his ears are enveloping all directions, penetrating each nook & cranny, not missing anyone. Without senses he is the knower of what’s going on in mind & senses; Being beyond gunas, beyond senses, yet enjoyer of all sense pleasures as he is. He is inside of people as well as outside too, and as their very themselves too. He is indivisible, one, like vast sky, still appears as innumerable birds, people, plants & animals. He sustains as Lord Vishnu, destroys as Lord Shiva, and creates as Bramha.

“Light of all lights far far from darkness, knowable itself, known only through conscious experience, resides in the hearts of all.

“Prakriti & Purusha & ksetrajna are beginningless and their different formations and modifications have come from the gunas. In the creation of karya- the five elements and tanmatras, as well as in creation of karana, the five organs of action and five senses of perception, along with intellect, ego, & mind, Prakriti is the cause of all. In the experience of joy and sorrow purusha is the cause. Purusha involved with Prakriti experiences the Prakriti-born things. Attachment to gunas and their formations cause ksetrajna to rise & fall in high & low species. The Purusha even while living in the body is a detached onlooker, upadrasta, consenter, anumama, sustainer, bharta, the experiencer & enjoyer — bhokta, and being great commander- mahesvar, and being pure truth, consciousness & bliss intense in the Self it is known as paramatma. One who knows this secret wisdom will never suffer rebirth even while enjoying all, all life.

“To this great paramatma Some behold in the heart through purified intellect in deep meditation: this is dhyana-yoga. Others behold it through discriminative analysis. Others behold it through performing right actions and dedicating all to God. Others listen to wise men and practice thus they attain.

“All expansions of animate and inanimate world arise from Union of Nature & Soul. Their connection is illusory. He alone sees rightly who perceives the imperishable Lord amidst the perishing, changing, dying shows & scenes. By so seeing you do not destroy & injure and hurt yourself by yourself. When you see nature as the doer of all things being done always, and your Self as an indifferent spectator, then you see rightly and become a Seer, a beholder of Truth. When you see all separate beings and their actions and their feelings as existent in the one that has expanded Itself into the many, then you are the one who’s one with Bramha.

“Oh Arjuna, being beginningless and beyond modes of gunas, even while residing in this temporary body, he or she neither does anything, nor becomes affected. Just like sky is expanded far and wide, -all pervading, still it is subtle therefore beyond taint; it is never smeared up with plane-smoke, nuclear bomb waste, bad breath of alcoholics; the same way the Bramha as Self though seated everywhere in everyone’s body, remains ever taintless & pure, and beyond restraint. Just like all alone sun illumines the entire firmament, entire cosmos, same way, one alone - the soul illumines the whole body. Those who perceive the subtle distinction between body & soul, the atma, through the eye of wisdom, pure clean & keen, along with the method of freedom from gunas, they arc the wise ones and they attain the eternal felicity, the facticity pristine!”

Bhakti-Yoga
Yoga of Devotion

Arjuna said:
“Thank you so much Lord, Please tell me who is fully acquainted with yoga? Is it the one who is striving for attaining the unmanifest?”

Krishna replied then:
“One who is thinking of me with melting heart, with thrills of love & homage is the one who is the greatest yogi. One who is meditating to realize the formless, absolute Bramha finally attain me too, but during their practice they suffer so much difficulty… Because, as long as body identification remains, establishment in Bramha is far, far away… Whereas those who overwhelmed with love offer their actions to me and make me the doer of their everything and like non-stop flow of oil continuously think of me, I redeem them from the sea of death very soon. Now Arjuna, please listen closely, I am going to give you the easiest method to know me, to love me, because to know me is to love me, so here we go…

“Nicely fold up your mind and place it in me. Tuck it into the blanket of my lilas and lay it down to peace. Then introduce your intellect in me; dream, sing, eat & play, through all of your duty-filled days, remembering me always, feeling me constantly, singing my holy names, never be away from my loving memories, and do so easily through any of the five relations, bhavas. And keep making sure through all this that intellect isn’t growing indifferent from me. It should keep trying & trying to understand me. Then you will dwell in me, and reside in me.

“If perchance it’s just not happening, seems little difficult then practice. Don’t worry. Make your feelings long lasting and intense. Each day’s realization should be deeper than the formers and growing into the nexts.

“If that is just too tricky, then be diligent in performing all actions for me. While doing anything, anytime, anywhere, most frequently keep saying, ‘Lord, this is yours, I offer it at your lotus feet.’ Then you will attain sure success.

“If you cannot do even this, then just at the end of the action’s performance, after it’s all finished, picking up the best of all auspicious actions of the entire day, week, year and decade, –offer their fruits to me. Before enjoying, before tasting, before taking all the credit away to your ego-bank, offer all to me. That will create a transcendental pleasure, which I cannot escape.

“Gathering and practicing Knowledge from scriptures, literatures, and authoritative discourses is superior to absent-minded, mechanical yoga; Great is to be well informed. Deep meditation is still greater than intellectual perception of knowledge in theories. However, relinquishing the fruit of action is greater than meditation. And as soon as the fruits are transcended, all the peace of existence descends like an immortalizing nectar shower, or holy dove.

“Anyone who earnestly wants to please God should try to cultivate the following qualities. These qualities naturally flow once peace is attained through any of the above means…

advesta sarva bhutanam

nirmamo nirahankarah
samadukha sukhah ksami

santustah satatam yogi

yo madbhaktah sa me priyah

“Never harboring grudges in the heart, as that’s God’s abode now, it needs to be clean, keep it clean please; be friendly & compassionate to all. One who loves me remains unruffled by pain and pleasure. Devoid of I-ness what to speak of hostility his expertise lies in forgive, forget & let go even to the offenders, bitterness he does not hold.

“Ever contented, with the bliss of Mystica Transcensia reflecting through his eyes and countenance, always bubbling with energy & enthusiasm to understand finer wisdom; like lion determined, his heart & intellect ever dedicated to me and my causes, he or she, yes that one, is very very dear to me. Just like a billionaire is not excited to receive a gift of a dime, so also the possessor of my spiritual wealth does not feel elated by trivial joys of senses. Running after them proves you’ve not yet tasted my love divine…

“Trust in me has made he or she very tranquil & unaffected by outer events; & his or her relation with me is clearly evidenced by lasting affection for all. One who by nature is unindulged in feverish excitements and frivolous pleasures; who doesn’t allow jealousies caused by extreme selfishness to enter the heart’s dwelling; who is free from worries, anxieties & all apprehensions, is a billion dollar rich devotee of mine, is very dear to me, no doubt about it…

“Tying a golden rope with me and himself or herself, of the string of bhava in sweet relationships, saturated with the above all superb qualities, adoring me by all the depths of their heart, pursuing this undying message of mine, such a fascinating person is very very very dear to Me.

“It is on this background that we become each others. Then I make you my gopi. Then I call your name on my flute and wait for you under Kadamba tree in Vrindaban. I am still waiting there for you. Yes, gopi bhava that’s the supreme peak of devotion. Each year my birthday comes, only for one purpose: to inaugurate your entrance day into the brilliance of delight of love. And it’ll come every year, year after year, until the end of creation as a clarion call, as a knock at your door. -Oh daughters of life, oh sons of nectar, are you ready? Come dear, I am waiting. I brought a golden chariot for you, for us, would you come please….”

Encounterment With The Cosmic - The Mahakal

Arjuna said:
“That’s wonderful, that’s great, now I long to see your Virat Cosmic Form. O compassionate one, if you feel I deserve it, and if you feel comfortable, please do kindly show that to me…”

Krishna said:
“Sure, sure my dear Partha, there is nothing which I cannot do for you. So you will sec. But through these less powerful eyes it is not possible, so lo-ll give you divine eyes…

divyam dadami te chaksuh

“Behold my four billion mile tall cosmic form…”

Sanjaya said:
“O King, As soon as Krishna said this, Arjuna felt his eyes become four billion times more powerful and then an explosion of light took place like thousands of suns rising simultaneously, and right there he saw a most wonderful, astounding Being, whose face was like his friend but million times larger with all the luminous beings’ vibhuties he had just described before.

“Countless faces & eyes shining all over the sky adorned with celestial silks, garlands & ornaments, perfuming, illumining Arjuna saw and saw and saw startled with awe and shock of surprise he found all the lokas, all the worlds, even the remote past he had studied and oncoming future events as well, present therein, and he saw all assembled, nicely set in one place in Lord’s gigantic, universal form. His hair standing on end, palms folded together, tears of devotion rolling down his face, looking up far, and all around him he prayed,

“Thank you, thank you, Oh ocean-hearted lord, I see, I do see now to you O gigantic Holy Sire, O Lord of the Universe, with innumerable forms and limbs, neither beginning, nor end, nor middle; luminous, effulgent like sun, like moon, like fire, wearing golden crowns, holding discus, mace, and innumerable weapons, You are the shelter of all, protector of dharma, invincible eternal purusha!

“O blazing furious flame, O accumulated blinding ray, O concentrated powers aglow, your light is spreading everywhere. Celestials, humans and all life forms are entering in your form to be recycled and appear in many more forms; all rudras, adityas, visvedevas, marutas, gandharvas, siddhas raksasas too are looking at you, standing, struck with wonder, and running to be punctual in their duties everywhere.

“I see now your colossal arms, countless faces, penetrating eyes of sun and moon, and the fire of your mouth of blazing furious flames; all sons of Dhritarastra with all their armies, along with Bhisma, Drona & Kama, and all of our armies too, O Death incarnate, are fiercefully, speedily entering your mouth. Their heads and bodies are crushed, chewed and broken. Some are hanging between your teeth. Your tongue is long & blazing licking all sides devouring all, swallowing completely your light eI ngulfing…. Oh, who are you? O cosmic, O colossal, O stunning one, be pleased on me, be gracious please. O compassionate one, introduce yourself to me…”

Cosmic Lord said:
“I am the Lord of Change, I am the Lord of Time, Devastation is my job; I am Mahakala. Since devastation cannot exist without creation it is impossible without creation so that too is my nature. You can see devastation, sustenance and creation all in me…all past, all present and all future too, like so many gems, necklaces and finger rings. Vast recycling and rebirthing is always going on; All these Kauravas are already dead, even without your fighting, just see! Therefore,

Sanjaya said:
“O King, hearing these words of Lord Mahakala, Arjuna was thrilled, wearing his beautiful Indra-given crown, with folded palms trembling with overwhelming elation and awe of the compassion of Mahakala, bowing down he said,

“Your holy name & the endless descriptions of your power & sports is thrilling, exciting, and horripulating to the whole world. But evil-minded ones are scared and run down in all directions, while siddhas praise you. You are the shelter of all, you are the abode of all. Lord Mahakala said:
“This demonstration of my cosmic form is for you. See for this once and remember my message. O great hero, sacrifice, charity, study of vedas, austerity too cannot make one see it; Be not therefore horrified, but as you feel peace, lo- I assume this four armed form, and this very form you like…”

And he became four-armed Vishnu, then after sometime he resumed his original form of Sri Krishna of his same age, and then, Krishna said:

“None else but you, has seen this form…

Vibhuti-Yoga
Divine-Splendors

Krishna said,
“My dear friend, harken to my words. I am telling you about my splendorous sovereignty, which even high celestials and maharishis don’t know, haven’t figured out, because I am beyond that too. By knowing me wholly the wise go free from all sins. So here we begin…

“Everything of cosmic dream emanates from my mind therefore intelligence, understanding, freedom from hypnosis, forgiveness, truth, discipline, peace, joy, sorrow, birth & death, fear, courage & not-hurting tendency, equanimity, serenity, donation, fame and notoriety, all are sparks arising from me. I am responsible for the unfoldments of evil & virtue expanding in human destinies.

“The seven sages, four kumaras, Bramha and the fourteen manus too emanated from my will, and their descendants populated the world…

Just in one verse Krishna told the origin & history of the whole world. Very smart. Now it only needs research and expansion with modern technology into modern living.

“By realizing the fact of my prolific manifestation, yoga power and prosperity, your meditations go deep and the shade of my blessing always surrounds you. All, emerging from me, spread limitlessly, and merge back, and thus awe stricken they do indeed explore and adore me. Dropping the tools of research & investigation, intoxicated with bliss in the wine of my presence, experience they then mind in-drawn, soul lila-sunk, their words flow enlightening each other, leading to the shining divine scenes and sights of my loka. Upon such lovingly absorbed ones, I bestow treasury of ideas lightening the way; then they find their way to me who is their very own Self. Intensively when they are working through ideas from my mystic box or Holy Grail, I send a stream of light from my mystic torch called jnanadeepa. Then the rest of the darkness is finished and we unite together, and the bliss of our union spreads all over the world. Thus music echoes, flowers shower, nymphs dance and sing and a great festivity spreads into big celebrations.”

Arjuna asked,
“True, true, very true I definitely believe it my Lord, Oh, you are so great, and still so kind to me! Thank you O sporty, frolic-lover, lila-sunk dearest holy sire, you are Bramha, the Supreme, the pure, the sovereign; Sage Narada and Sage Asit and Sage Deval& Sage Vyasa had told me like that long ago, and now you yourself are telling me too!

“No one else can possibly know you, O bhuta bhavan, O devesha, O lord of the Universe; you alone know yourself fully. Therefore, tell me extensively your extensions & powers that you sustain this universe by. Gazing at what aspects and forms will I better recognize you?”

Krishna’s lips showered flowers again…
